a pile of papers “under the table” in the studio of the artist Stephen Raw
AN ARTIST’S STUDIO is crammed full of delights so one has to have an eye for the less than obvious places and not just the “displayed” works: the piles of trials, the cast-offs, the under-the-tables. And when the artist is kind enough to allow one to photograph at will it’s an opportunity to see and to essay another’s fabulously creative skill. It’s the life in these papers that touches me at some profound level: the transference of another’s life into this media and this space. There’s spirit, someone’s spirit, in creative art. Just as there’s Spirit, Holy Spirit, in every element of creative creation. And it’s vivifying.
